I first met Lyzelle and Earl when we did a newborn session for their baby girl Gianna a few years ago. And what a lovely surprise it was when Lyzelle contacted me to say that they were expecting a baby boy and wanted to book a maternity session. It really is so special getting to see my clients’ families grow and always such a privilege to be asked to photograph these milestones.
We decided on the beautiful Noordhoek Common in Noordhoek, Cape Town. Nestled under Chapman’s Peak it is such a great spot and if you haven’t been there before, I can highly recommend it. It is an open space perfect for walking the dogs, playing games on the lawn or even packing a picnic basket and heading down there on a Cape Town Summer’s evening. There is even a little stream where the kids can catch tadpoles and if you’ll lucky you will see the horses in the paddocks. And if you forgot the picnic basket, you’re just a stone’s throw from some wonderful restuarants where you can grab a delicious bite to eat.
So I was very happy when Lyzelle suggested it as a spot for our shoot because it is such a perfect setting. And though it was a little chilly, we were fortunate with the weather as the rain stayed away. Can’t wait to meet this little man in a few weeks. And as you can see from the pics, Gianna is so excited and very ready to be a big sister. Lyzelle chose to have her hair and makeup done before our session. I think it’s such a good idea to have a little pampering before a shoot because it gives you just that little extra bit of confidence. So thank you to Alicia and her assistant from Blush Hair and Makeup for being part of this shoot.
