When is the best time to schedule a maternity session?
It’s best to do your maternity photos when your bump is big enough to show off, but also while you’re still feeling comfortable. I find that this is usually between 32 – 36 weeks.
Do you provide professional hair styling and make up?
If you would like to have your hair and make up done by a professional make up artist, this can be arranged at an additional cost. Not only will you get a little pampering before your session, but you will feel just a little more confident in front of the camera and it will make your images even more gorgeous.
What should I wear?
The most important thing when thinking about what to wear is that you should be comfortable and feel confident. I’ve found that solid colours work best. Try to avoid too many patterns or big logos which can detract from the subjects in the images.
Who chooses the location?
We are blessed with so many options for gorgeous locations in Cape Town and the surrounding areas and I am happy to suggest somewhere for your session. Alternately, if you have a specific location in mind or a place that holds some special significance to you we can do your shoot there. Please note that any charges for the use of a specifc location (e.g. entry fees or permit charges) will be for your own account.
Do you charge extra for travel?
If the location is more than 50kms outside of Cape Town an additional charge of R3.50/km will apply.
What happens if the weather doesn’t play along?
Should the weather prevent us from doing your photoshoot we will reschedule your session to an alternate date that is convenient to both of us.
When should I book my Newborn Session?
It’s a good idea to book your Newborn Session quite far in advance. I will pencil you in 5 days after your due date and once your baby is born you can contact me and we will confirm the date and time. Should your baby be born before your due date, just let me know and we will take it from there. I’ve found that the best time for a Newborn Session is in the morning and preferably after a feed.
What is the best time for a Newborn Session?
The best time for a Styled Newborn Session is within the first 5 – 9 days of your baby being born. This is when we are most able to capture those curled up, sleepy images. If you would like to do a Lifestyle Newborn Session, this can be scheduled after baby is 10 days old. The ideal time is when baby is between 6 and 12 weeks when they are a little more alert to the world and we may even capture a smile 🙂
What if my baby doesn’t settle during the session?
Every newborn is different and we may not be able to capture all the images you’ve seen on my website or even some of those poses you may have spied on the Internet. I will never put your baby in a pose that they are uncomfortable in and will never force them into a pose that they struggle against. It can sometimes take up to an hour for a baby to settle during a shoot, so please bear that in mind on the day. I have set aside 2 – 3 hours for your session to allow time for baby to settle and to allow for comfort breaks during our session. Should your baby not settle at all we will make the call together as to whether we should reschedule your session.
Who provides the props for a Styled Newborn Session?
I provide all the wraps, blankets, beanies, baskets etc for Styled Newborn Session. For a Lifestyle Session you may include any of your own special items such as blankets, a soft toy etc in the session.
Are family/sibling images included in a Styled Newborn Session?
We do a few posed images with parents and any siblings at the start of your session.
When will I receive my images?
You will receive your images within 28 days of your session.
